Don’t get too excited, beware of scammers.

There are millions of people out there, who dream to work as a model and become famous and those who scam them. However, it’s not that simple neither to reach that dream nor identify who is about to scam you. Consider this article as a scam alert. So when a stranger texts or emails you, don’t start jumping around out of excitement. Instead, ask questions like why would someone out of the blue offer you any reward, and what did you do to deserve it, and how did he come to know about you. Be suspicious. I am, writing this article to prevent you from being a victim of a scam scheme. These article’s title is ‘scammers pose as a popular photographer’, because it was one of the biggest scams which I nearly fell into as well.

I fell for scammers before.

Nowadays, scammers have new strategies and new victims. No matter who you are or where you at, you’ve got to be careful. If they could scam on serious business deals like Alibaba oil and car trades, and on other grounds, now they they have found a new audience. I will explain how to identify scammers in two easy ways. I was lucky enough, these scammers already were revealed in other platforms and saved me. Stay alert from all kinds of scammers, especially the ones in your emails. What do the scammers want?

25th of May 2018, I have received a very convincing, professionally written email (you will find the written email below) from Annie Leibovitz, the famous professional photographer. At first I was so glad, thinking, akh finally they reached out to me, I thought they knew I was a blogger. After doing some research with my husband, we found out that this was a big scam. The scammers have written the same email to thousands of models and bloggers like me. They make money by inviting you for a fake shooting, which will never happen and they will ask you to pay upfront a certain realistic amount of money. They sound very reasonable with valid excuses like: ‘the wardrobe from Adidas, which you need to wear during the shoot’. As soon as you buy into their lie, they will take your money and you will never hear from them again.

We found exact similar emails were sent to others, and they reported this scam in this blog. The only difference is they used Jill Greenberg instead of Annie Leibovitz. They sent a copy-paste email to everyone. This scam became such a buzz on the internet.

Top 2 Ways to Identify a Scammer:

1. The email address is weird. It is not official, and it has weird words or numbers.
2. The name of the email that shows and the signature are not the same.

If you sense something isn’t right, then damn your gut is right. That is a scam. Remember that.

Never pay upfront money through email to anyone. If it’s for a job, and it asks you to pay, then you have all the more reasons to suspect. After all, a job pays you; you don’t pay for the job. So here is the email I got on the 25th of May 2018 from a scammer that pretended to be Annie Leibovitz:
