Maui is a chemical free shampoos and conditioners brand; their shampoos and conditioners are gentle on scalp, giving my hair fresh and silky look. Since I became allergic to shampoos, I have discovered great brands that produce fragrance free, toxic and hormone disrupting chemical free shampoos and other hair products. 1. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)

quite a common ingredient in shampoos. It causes frizzy hair, as it removes the sebum. Sebum is an oil that is naturally produced by the          sebaceous gland on the scalp. This could be the reason of the allergic reaction of redness or itchiness.

2. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

is a chemical detergent, which removes the dirt and oil, including the natural oil which we need not gone.

3. Parabens

you will avoid Parabens, if you do not want your hormones to be disturbed. Cause Parabens are a type of hormones.

4. Fragrance

unless its made of a natural oil (as mentioned on the package) are usually real bad! Avoid it if you can.

5. Triclosan

can be as harmful as Parabens, but there is not enough evidence.

6. PEG

Polyethylene Glycol is an agent which might cause cancer, and interfere with human body development according to Natural Society of             California state.

7. Silicone

is like an oil, helps hair get smooth and shiny. Silicon free shampoo works great for any type of hair. I have a thick, wavy hair and yet, I             am loving the very light texture.

8. Synthetics

is a chemical detergent and there are so many types of synthetics found in shampoos and conditioners. Synthetic color or synthetic                   fragrance are examples. And they are bad for hair.

9. Retinyl Palmitate

this product is derived from coconut, but for some people it might cause irritation, allergies or eczema.

11. Dimethicone

is another type of a Silicone which makes your hair feel greasy. It can also clog the scalp pores which might result in irritation.

12. Alcohol

believe it or not, usually Shampoos and Conditioners have Alcohol in their ingredients and they are not good for your hair or scalp, as it has a drying effect. People with dry hair should avoid this ingredient when buying a shampoo and a conditioner. So if you have a dry hair avoid a product ingredient that reads “prop”.

13. Formaldehyde

is a preservative and in the shampoo or a conditioner or any other hair care products it will read as quaternium-15

14. Diethanolamine (DEA) or Triethanolamine (TEA)

are emulsifiers and foaming agents. These are banned by European Commission as it is linked with causing cancer in animals.

15. Sodium Chloride
